Construction Progress

It's been kind of crazy around here! Now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, I figured it was time to do an update on our construction project! Things are moving right along and we are really starting to see things shape up around here.

After having soil and concrete issues, including having to dig down 8 feet for the footers, we finally got the foundation for the stamp room in.

The next step was to pour the slab for the stamp room, and while they were at it, we had them pour the patio, which will be under the new deck. We now have a much smaller backyard, which makes "Kevin the Lawnmower Boy" pretty happy. Doesn't he know the less lawn to mow, the less you get paid? Actually, our backyard was never very big to begin with, plus it was always damp and muddy, so we'll probably get much more use out of it now.

And finally the walls start to go up! This will be my new stamp room! I'm already starting to think about how I'm going to arrange and organize everything.

And on top of the stamp room we see the beginning of the screened porch. We hardly ever used our deck, so I have a feeling we'll be spending a lot more time out here once it's finished.

And here is what's done as of today. The roof is ready for the shingles! They tell me next will be the windows of the stamp room, plus the new deck! Can't wait!
